After the Assignment

If the search firm does not deliberately choose to work with a small number of clients only in any sector, a long-term trust-based relationship cannot be formed with the client. This will provide little incentive for the search firm to invest significant time and resources in the client relationship.

Consequently, the search firm is unlikely to act as a sounding board if the candidate does not generate the expected results. Given that more than 33% of newly hired leaders leave their positions within 18 months, the lack of follow-up can be of great cost to all parties.
